Flashlights

Our Thomas is a very big flashlight fan; to the point that he received several from varying sources for Christmas. He also loves to choose something new to sleep with every night (in addition to the myriads of CUDDLY stuffed animals on his bed). Sometimes it's a matchbox car, sometimes a toy rifle (nothing boring and soft for him), and sometimes he asks about his flashlights. To which I've said "no".

So today as he was cleaning up his room he put a flashlight away and told me: "Mama, we can't sleep with our flashlights, 'cuz we might leave them on and the bad guys will run out." Interesting picture, that. Bad guys running out of flashlights left and right - and why not? don't flashlights traditionally scare the bad guys away?

Charles gave me that patient, big brother look and quietly corrected: "He means batteries, Mama."

Amazingly, I knew exactly what Thomas was saying. Must come from teaching 1st graders for years!

My kids love flashlights too. I have to recommend the energizer weather ready flashlight. It is a wind-up flashlight - this eliminates bad guys. Another favorite is those flashlights that you shake to renew the charge. Love them.

Good ideas Clarissa! We can't have too many bad guys running about. I'll look into them.

That was really funny :) And I'm gonna look for the shake-up flashlights, too!
