You're It!

Soo, I was catching up on my blogging friends and noticed that Karen tagged me. How exciting! I'm supposed to tell you seven random things about myself. And of course I promptly forgot everything random about myself. What does anyone want to know?

1. (and perhaps the most shocking) I canNOT for the life of me remember which way is right and which way is left. Sad but true. I am 32 years old and brazenly substitute one for the other, making my loved ones very suspicious when I attempt to give directions. This is actually made more puzzling by the fact that I am a very good "map girl" - I know where we are, I can figure out how to get where we're going, and yet, I can't tell you which direction to turn.

2. the hokey pokey. I have recenly been taking my boys to a little choir at our church (called the "Cherub Choir"). At the end of every practice we all do the Hokey Pokey, and I find myself wondering every week, "does it get any better than this?"

3. I've been married for five and a half years, and we have moved EIGHT times. We have been living in our current house for 10 months now. If we make it to December we will have a family record - one whole year in one house!!!! I'm not holding my breath.

4. Airports and where they take you. I love going to airports. I love picking people up, dropping people off, but they're the best when I get to go somewhere. With kids, without kids, near, far, whatever. On the 27th it will be a year since we moved home from Bali. Wow. I'm due for another trip.

5. Outdoors. In my past life I guided backpacking trips and whipped out two marathons in one year. Not quickly. But I did run them. Since then I can't say I'm the same person, but I do have a love of being outside and being active.

6. Organization. I thrive on organizing. I love lists and charts and efficiency. I have a monthly menu posted on my fridge. A chore chart (for me and the boys). A monthly household chore chart. A daily schedule (which we haven't managed to follow yet). And we have three giant whiteboards in our great room (eyesore, yes, but very functional). One is my "to do" list for the business, one is Charlie's, and one is our "to buy" list. Insane, but completely necessary. My brains could come dangerously close to falling out without these helps.

7. I love words, spelling, word origins, languages & trying to figure them out... In Bali we started studying Indonesian and I absolutely loved it. I practiced as much as I could. I was totally inspired by the challenge of learning a non Latin-based language. It was mind-boggling to me. Whole ways that we westerners express ourselves are completely left out in Indonesian. It was awesome. . .but on a very different note: why do people insist on saying "nuc-yoo-lar" when it's "nuc-lee-ar"? or "jewl-er-y" when it's "jew-el-ry"? hm? very educated people, too.

Now I'm supposed to tag seven more people. How 'bout these girls? Aly, Rebecca, Erin, Christy, Abby. Okay, it's not seven, but it's a start.

I love airports too! I love traveling. The airports have been changing so much. They are adding all this...stuff. :) Lots of restaurants now. It's weird. My favorite part of flying is when the plane just come up off the runway. :)

I love airports too. It is still amazing to me that you can board this craft and a couple hours later be so far away. I wish I could travel again!

I think we are close to catching up with you and Charlie in number of times moved! Luckily we've only had two big moves, most have been just around Santa Maria. I love what a great attitude you have towards all the moves.

I also love organizing and lists. Know if only I could follow through....I would be very efficient

yeah, no kidding. I'm not so great at the follow-through either. But the lists are fun! Especially if they're on very cute note paper!

Wowzers I'm behind the times...but I have to laugh, because for some of your random things I could just copy and paste, pretending they're mine--but that's cheating, idnit?

Specifically #1, #4, #6 and #7. Nucyoolar makes me absolutely batty.

it's/its errors also make this list - as well as your's/yours.

Hm. maybe I just need to go and do this!
