This is for you, Mom

My mom is quite the gardener, and always interested in flowers and plants. So we took these pictures with her in mind when we were in Java. I don't know the names of these flowers, but they're pretty!

I have never seen anything like this plant before, but then they featured it on "Blue's Clues" and I was pretty surprised. We named it the "closing plant", but on Blue's Clues they called it the Sensitive Plant. On Wikipedia (my best friend for info) it's name is mimosa pudica. Here it is in action:

Now, on Blue's Clues they showed a bunny coming up to eat the plant and it closing up. So I guess it's a defense mechanism.

ahem, so what if I'm getting my educational material from a guy who wears the same shirt every day and plays guessing games with a dog? I did cross-check the info on Wikipedia. PS. there were links to videos of it on Wikipedia that were better than mine - and the plant was bigger, so easier to see what was happening.

Only two days before we're off to the States. I will probably take a little blogging break as we get changed over to the new time frame and visit with family and friends. Or I'll be blogging like a madman, since I'll be awake at 3:00 in the morning while everyone else is sleeping.

Thanks Guys! That is a really cool plant!! I love the pictures of the flowers, but the best was the video. Charles and Thomas are talking so well now, I imagine we will have some great conversations soon. Can't wait to see you all!!
