When you're driving along and it's past naptime and there's one more errand to run...well, you know.
It's like this: one boy is singing his heart out to the radio as loud as he can. another boy is crying because he can't get his shoe off. the baby is crying because she's a baby and that's what they do when they haven't had their nap. the other boy is wailing pitifully because he doesn't want anyone to make any noise. and Mom? Mom is a wee bit on edge. But she doesn't want to be impatient. She wants to honor God and knows that she chose to have these beautiful children to love and cherish. So she...
...SINGS! Just starts singing. Singing the funniest song she can think of. A song with different voices. A song with a villain and a hero and a damsel in distress.
And the boys eat it up. (the baby is really impartial to the whole thing-but that's okay)
If you're wondering, I chose to sing "Along Came Jones" by Ray Stevens. You probably have other family favorites, but that's one of mine.
I wouldn't recommend everything by Ray Stevens, but he does have some funny songs that kids love, and grown-ups appreciate the humor, too. If you're interested, you can find him on iTunes. The album I grew up with was called "Gitarzan" and I just looked it up, all of the following songs are on it. These are some of my favorites.
Along Came Jones
Sir Thanks-A-Lot
Gitarzan
Mississippi Squirrel Revival
